May 2008 Luncheon - Wed. 5/28/08

The Wisdom of Crowds: Can Wikipedia and Open Source be applied to Corporate America?

Join the Hawaii Telecommunications Association as renowned entrepreneur and CyberCom President Peter Kay takes us through a fast and furious tour of the current state of the collaborative online space known as Web 2.0 and puts forth a provocative idea that harnesses the wisdom of crowds to attain knowledge better and faster than traditional methods.

“There is a native swarm intelligence that is present in all forms of nature, such as ants, bees, and bacteria,” said Kay. “Can the Internet enable a higher level of swarm knowledge for mankind? And can this be applied to Corporate America?”

Kay is recognized as the voice behind “Your Computer Minute” on the radio. His personal mission is to lead technology-leveraged transformation in corporations, governments and individuals and has spent 24 years doing so in Hawaii by founding six tech-related companies. Kay built the first commercial Web site in Hawaii as well as the initial site for many local blue-chip firms.

His nomination was supported by virtually every federal and state law enforcement agency and he was officially sworn in on December 7, 2001.
